So first post, probably be a long one as I need to give the back story.

My wife and i had our baby on 08th January 2020. A lovely baby boy who we named Austin.

He really is adorable, such a good baby (thankfully!) and we were over the moon as you can imagine.

We had him in Vietnam where my wife is from, not the UK. She wanted to be in a familiar place and for me, it ws fine as I could get the time off work.

Sadly I did have to leave Vietnam 3 weeks after the birth for work reasons......but my wife at least is strong and so coped amazingly on her own, bless her.

So then disaster - Covid.

They locked down pretty early in Vietnam so about 4 weeks after the birth, my wife has been locked down with a new born baby.

My wifes' mother passed away when she was 2 years old so unfortunately was not around to help.

Not ideal - as any new mother will know, being cooped up with a baby, no support, no outside contact......pretty damn hard.

So it of course became paramount importance i got them here with me in the UK as soon as possible.

The Visa for my wife was easy - 11 days!

All those horror stories you hear about how hard it is to get a Visa.....they are basically nonsense.

As long as you are dong everything legal, have a decent salary, financially secure and can prove it. It's easy

And if you are not financially secure, perhaps you and this country should not be letting you bring a foreigner in who is going to be a burden on the state.

But that's another story.

So there we are.

My wife and kid in Vietnam in lock down.

Me in the UK in lock down

Next step - get Austin's passport so as soon as flights open , we can get them across.

And this is where the nightmare starts.

All the documentation as requested went in to the passport office.

And then nothing. No response for 4 months.

Useless.

I put in a complaint - something I didn't really want to do as you know how this works.....put in a compliant, they make life harder for you for having the 'audacity' to complain. These people are so brainwashed they actually think we are there to service them, not them serve us. The rather large clue is in the job title ' Civil Servant' .

So they then came back with ridiculous demands for additional information such as we needed to supply the hospital notes from the pregnancy from Day 1.

Great - so my wife has to go out into a City in hot season - 35 degrees plus - with a new born baby.

In lock down.

With a virus on the loose.

Good one British Passport office!

Thanks for putting my child and wife at risk for an utterly pathetic reason!

I mean they had everything. Birth certificate....photographs from us at the hospital at scans, birth, day after birth, pictures of me when I was a baby next to my son (poor little bugger is the spitting image of me - sorry son!). Receipts from the hospital, so many documents.

Making my wife go out with our son in extreme temperatures with Covid virus on the loose was cruel and negligent.

What a disgusting group of people to enforce this.

So anyway, we did as they asked.

Complied

Because that's what you have to do with the Marxist government departments.
